Personal Property Used on Campus

Faculty/Staff planning to bring personal property on campus is advised to contact their insurance agent for coverage.

The University cannot assume responsibility for any loss, theft, or damage to personal property even if the property is brought to the University and used in connection with the staff member's work. Insurance is not carried by the University to cover any of these losses.

Personal property brought to University premises should carry a sticker, prominently displayed, identifying the owner.

Those who choose to bring personal property to University premises should contact their insurance agents to be certain their property is properly insured. If the property is insured under the so-called Homeowners Policy, a check should be made to be certain the coverage is adequate. Generally, certain items classified as "business property" may be insured while in the insured's residence, but not away from the residence, and, of course, certain losses, e.g., theft, are usually subject to a deductible.

Further questions concerning this policy should be directed to the Campus Risk Manager, 333-4660.
