Organization and Responsibilities of Facilities & Services
Facilities & Services is a campus service unit that reports to the Chancellor.
Facilities & Services is a service unit, under the direction of the Executive Director of Facilities & Services. Its purpose is to assist the various University departments in their functions of teaching and research. Facilities & Services is responsible to the Chancellor.
The following functions fall within the purview of Facilities & Services at the Urbana-Champaign Campus:
- Building maintenance
- Grounds maintenance
- Operation and maintenance of University vehicles, except departmental
- Custodial Services
- Sanitary waste and trash disposal
- General superintendence of public functions
- Campus stores and receiving
- Internal and external mail services
- Operation and maintenance cost accounting
- Printing and photographic services
- Distribution and inventory of building room keys
- Parking
- Traffic engineering services
- Safety and compliance
- Remodeling and minor improvements
- Capital improvement projects
- Capital construction
- Work order service: for special work required by other departments and divisions in order to make available to them professional engineers, skilled craftspeople, and/or special machinery and facilities
- Operation and maintenance of central supervisory environmental control system
- Planning and construction management
- Engineering services
- Architectural services
