Bicycle Regulations (Rev)

Purpose

  • To regulate possession, operation, and parking of bicycles (traditional and e-bikes) as well as low-speed e-scooters at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, so as to provide for the safety, security, and well-being of persons on the Campus; and

Scope

This policy applies to all persons, including but not limited to faculty, staff, students, other employees, contractors, subcontractors, volunteers, visitors, and members of the public, and all bicycles (traditional and e-bikes) as well as low-speed e-Scooters on the Campus.

Authority

This policy is implemented under the authority of the Office of the Chancellor.

Policy

All persons and bicycles (traditional and e-bikes) as well as low-speed e-scooters on the Campus are subject to the University Bicycle Ordinance.

Vendors are prohibited from renting out e-Scooters on Campus.

Bicycle

The meaning is set forth in the University Bicycle Ordinance.

Campus

The meaning is set forth in the University Bicycle Ordinance.

E-Scooter

The meaning is set forth in the University Bicycle Ordinance.

University Bicycle Ordinance

The ordinance posted online at University Bicycle Ordinance, with written copies available on request, provided that the online published document will be deemed the document of record.
