The purpose of this policy is to state the campus’ commitment to safety and recovery when conditions arise that constitute an emergency and/or disaster.
This policy applies to all members of the campus community.
The campus Executive Director of Public Safety or designee is assigned responsibility for implementing and maintaining this policy.
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is committed to a safe and nonviolent environment for all students, faculty, staff and visitors. If a condition arises that constitutes an emergency and/or disaster, the campus will utilize any/all resources available to mitigate the situation as efficiently and safely as possible. All applicable components of the Campus Emergency Operations Plan will be utilized to assist campus owned and/or leased spaces affected by the emergency and/or disaster.
In service of its commitment to the welfare, health and safety of all those in its campus community, the campus has a contractual agreement to retain the services of a preferred provider for disaster recovery services. Campus schools, departments, units and colleges shall contact Facilities & Services at (217) 333-0340 during normal business hours (8:00 am to 4:30 pm Central time) or the Division of Public Safety at (217) 333-1216 after normal business hours (4:30 pm to 8:00 am Central time) to facilitate any required services.
The University Office of Risk Management purchases property insurance coverage for campus buildings and select contents. The University Office of Risk Management shall be notified at (217) 333-3113, in all cases when the Disaster Recovery Contract for Services is activated by either the affected campus school, department, unit or college, or by Facilities & Services.
All accounting associated with the disaster recovery effort shall be shared responsibility of the affected campus school, department, unit or college and the disaster recovery service provider.
